Change of plan !
July 20th, 2009
Hi – today, I had intended to post a (hopefully) useful video showing how I manage and keep up to speed with blogs.
This reflects my excitement about the world of blogging, because until recently, it was a phenomenon that had largely passed me by.
And I will post that video … just as soon as I work out how to ! Yes, folks, at the risk of sounding like a record stuck in a groove, it’s another thing that I am being stupid about !
So I am reverting to plan B.
Which is to start an occasional series of posts about some of the books that I love. Deep breath, here goes …
The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris
I know that Alex likes this book too and anybody that has read it and then heard his first coaching session will understand where a lot of his ideas about being organised come from.
Tim Ferris is an extraordinary individual who describes himself as being part of the “New Rich” (or “NR”) in his jargon. This strategy flows from his idea that life is not something that you should put on hold until you retire. His philosophy is to indulge in intense, system-building periods of activity, followed by “mini-retirements” of several weeks. He’s probably the king of outsourcing. In fact, one of his blog posts talks about how he out-sourced his love-life (! well, kind-of). Not sure I’d take it that far Tim …
It’s probably true to say that the landscape has changed a bit following the dreaded “credit crunch” that took place a while after this book was first published, but there is still an awful lot here that will resonate with people that are striving for a better way.
He posts on a corresponding blog (fourhourworkweek.com/blog) about once a week and it’s one of the blogs that I follow regularly. Which kind of brings us back to where I started (plan A, remember ?), which was to show you a video describing how I follow all my favourite blogs.
Oh well … watch this space !
