Alex Jeffreys Strikes Again !
July 14th, 2009
Well, let nobody say that Alex’s coaching programme fails to deliver great value for money ! We’re just over a week in to the programme and already, a lot of ground has been covered, especially during the latest webinar which once again, extended late in to the night and on towards the early morning (in the UK anyway !).
Many of us now have our own personal blogs up and running (like this one) – unfortunately, I’ve only had the chance to look at a few of these. I know that my last post mentioned the importance of good content, and of course that’s still true. But some of these blogs just blow me away with their look and feel. I’ll put up a little widget shortly that will provide links to some of the others, so check them out.
The other great thing emerging is the sense of community amongst the students. Some are complete newbs to the online world, whilst some of us have been using computers since before there was an “online world” ! (Ahem … no names here !) Some of use strange machines like Macs or even Linux (yes, that’s me !). Some don’t know their FTP’s from their ABC’s whilst others have TCP/IP running in their veins.
BUT … one of my favourite sayings is that “We’re all stupid about something !” (Guilty on several counts, Your Honour !)
And when you realise this, it feels good to be able to help others along, because you know that you’re going to benefit in areas where you have a blind spot. For me, it used to be blogging, although I am slowly getting up to speed on this one.
The area I’m most in need of help in at the moment is Twitter. (You can follow me at twitter.com/rogblog). Some of the guys from the first group have some good resources on this, so I’m looking forward to learning more about it.
Meanwhile, there’s more to do, so I must get to it …

Hi Roger,
Thought I’d pop over and leave a comment – I notice above that you’ve mentioned wanting help with Twitter. I can wholeheartedly recommend 2 free resources – give me a sec and I’ll find the links for you…
*goes off on a rummage*
Right:
~ Dominating Twitter (care of Garry Parkes) http://dominating-twitter.com/
~ Twitter Muscle (care of Gary Simpson) http://twitter-muscle.com/
Both of these books approach Twitter in a very different way, so by reading both you will get a fully-rounded view of the how/what/why/when of Twitter. They’ve both been very useful to me.
Hope this helps!
Nikki / Purple Minxy Witch
Fantastic ! Thanks Nikki
Hey Roger,
Your blog is definitely off to a good start! I really think the community is what this coaching is all about. I almost feel like I have gotten my money’s worth just in the contacts that I have made so far. It has been an amazing experience. I can’t wait for what’s in store and I can’t wait to get to know you and everyone else better along the way.
Hi Roger,
Thought I would drop by as a fellow AJ student.
I’m loving the sense of community too, Matt above is a great help, as are many other people too.
I struggle with technical aspects and only have to look in the forum for help which is awesome.
I still haven’t fixed the ‘&asp’ you pointed out to me on Twitter,, but thanks for doing that, aprreciated
Looking forward to geting to know you along the way, I’m an ex Bath boy and know Bristol pretty well! I still support one of the Bristol football teams but haven’t been to a game in years!
Take care
Sean
Thanks Sean, no problem on the web page.
You’re a bit coy about your allegiance for “one of the Bristol football teams” – so I don’t know whether to congratulate you or to commiserate
Well……….they played in Bath some years ago before moving back to Bristol
Ah ! That gives it away. Commiserations ! lol !
Ah, OK, lets keep the relationship purely Internet Marketing for now the
lol !
BTW, I notice your url was http://rog-blog.com/?p=5#
You probably know but……….. if you get the All In One SEO plug in for your Blog, this will help you on the search engines, Jeff Johnson has some awesome free tools at http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/ downside is you will have JJ on your dashboard, but the free tools are good.
So with this your url and tag would look http://rog-blog.com/Alex-Jeffres-Strikes-Again
Talk soon!
Sean
I do want to change the structure of my permalinks and I have heard of Jeff’s stuff, but as my latest post says: Busy, busy, busy !
And, as Alex says, “Don’t get it right, get it going !”. So it looks like what I have on my hands here is one of those things: A Round Tuit ! (LOL).
But thanks.
I’ll let you crack on, I’m at J-O-B passing a bit of time and tons to do later!
Be in touch
Sean
I would second that. I feel Alex has put lots of work in his programmes, a very well done webinar after webinar that he is giving his students. And as for blogging and you catching upto speed, I think you are doing a fairly good job rog
keep it up
Thanks Wakas – I certainly enjoy the interaction on the blog
